Impensabile abbandonare il timone e la rotta per un\u2019intera notte. Oggi tanti atleti che corrono gare del genere parlano di \u201cmicrosonni\u201d, ma molte volte anche a sproposito. Il termine viene usato per indicare una miriade di tecniche, di approcci e di pratiche diverse. Non tutti ne sono consapevoli. Mi soffermo sugli aspetti pi\u00f9 immediati, quelli che l\u2019ultratrailer avverte pi\u00f9 facilmente su di s\u00e9, che sono di natura mentale e comportamentale. Ci sono poi altri effetti, pi\u00f9 legati alla sfera somatica, i cui effetti richiedono pi\u00f9 tempo per essere avvertiti e che qui mi limito soltanto ad elencare: l\u2019indebolimento progressivo del sistema immunitario, l\u2019alterazione nella secrezione di ormoni come il GH\u00a0e il cortisolo, il deterioramento dei processi metabolici (oltre ad una diminuzione della secrezione di leptina con un conseguente aumento incontrollato dell\u2019appetito); ed infine l\u2019impatto sul sistema cardiovascolare, con un aumento costante della pressione sanguigna che pu\u00f2 avere conseguenze gravi. I processi cognitivi sono implicati in pressoch\u00e9 tutte le attivit\u00e0 umane: pensiamo ad esempio come la capacit\u00e0 di concentrarsi sia fondamentale quando si corre in discesa o in percorsi tecnicamente complessi; quando si debba cercare il tragitto giusto ed evitare di perdersi; quando si debba distogliere l\u2019attenzione dalla fatica acuta o dal dolore.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"brz-css-fQU6U brz-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"brz-rich-text brz-rich-text__custom brz-css-urHQl\" data-brz-custom-id=\"tugegydeyjptzriitpwbboqsbjsklihsbmhx\">\n<div data-brz-translate-text=\"1\">\n<h4 class=\"brz-tp-lg-heading4 brz-mt-lg-0 brz-mb-lg-10 brz-tp-xs-heading3 brz-css-fDupq\" data-generated-css=\"brz-css-glqmd\" data-uniq-id=\"ykagf\"><span class=\"brz-cp-color5\">Iper-reattivit\u00e0 emozionale<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"brz-mb-lg-10 brz-bcp-color6 brz-tp-lg-paragraph ql-align-justify brz-css-m_CBN\" data-generated-css=\"brz-css-sgedb\" data-uniq-id=\"bjjmk\"><span class=\"brz-cp-color6\">Dormendo poco o per nulla la gestione delle proprie emozioni, specialmente quelle negative, diventa pi\u00f9 difficile. Cambia il tono dell\u2019umore che si fa pi\u00f9 irritabile, il soggetto diventa pi\u00f9 aggressivo, irascibile, sensibile alle frustrazioni. Una breve chiacchierata sull\u2019argomento con qualche volontario nelle Basi Vita risulter\u00e0 illuminante.Ci\u00f2 sembra dovuto al fatto che la DDS mette in crisi i lobi prefrontali del cervello, che normalmente inibiscono i comportamenti impulsivi.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"brz-css-fQU6U brz-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"brz-rich-text brz-rich-text__custom brz-css-urHQl\" data-brz-custom-id=\"fygmcsnnpmankzkvjqxbayorzwjaqczhhwaq\">\n<div data-brz-translate-text=\"1\">\n<h4 class=\"brz-tp-lg-heading4 brz-mt-lg-0 brz-mb-lg-10 brz-tp-xs-heading3 brz-css-kQn8L\" data-generated-css=\"brz-css-yrmxf\" data-uniq-id=\"ikhqb\"><span class=\"brz-cp-color5\">Cambiamenti peggiorativi nella percezione della fatica<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"brz-mb-lg-10 brz-tp-lg-paragraph brz-bcp-color6 ql-align-justify brz-css-ft3wQ\" data-generated-css=\"brz-css-almch\" data-uniq-id=\"rzwdv\"><span class=\"brz-cp-color6\">Alcune ricerche hanno dimostrato che la DDS aumenta la percezione di fatica (misurata con la scala di Borg) in soggetti impegnati in lavori aerobici prolungati. Il soggetto rimane imbambolato, tende immediatamente ad addormentarsi e a sognare appena quello che resta della sua attenzione intercetta uno stimolo fisso, come il cono di luce della propria lampada frontale. Proseguire diventa penosissimo: il nostro eroe prova a cantare, a parlarsi, perfino a schiaffeggiarsi. Non serve a niente. Si resta l\u00ec, a volte in preda alle allucinazioni.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"brz-css-fQU6U brz-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"brz-rich-text brz-rich-text__custom brz-css-urHQl\" data-brz-custom-id=\"gjaiwcbyavanmeifyqzumowtucmqwftnckdk\">\n<div data-brz-translate-text=\"1\">\n<p class=\"brz-mb-lg-10 brz-tp-lg-paragraph brz-bcp-color6 ql-align-justify brz-css-jIBUW\" data-generated-css=\"brz-css-jsihf\" data-uniq-id=\"xzbfu\"><span class=\"brz-cp-color6\">Per non trovarsi in queste situazioni, la soluzione a cui spesso si ricorre spontaneamente \u00e8 appunto il micro-sonno: organizzarsi per disporre di brevi soste in cui si dormono alcuni minuti. Ma il micro-sonno \u201cserve\u201d? Migliora realmente la situazione in cui si trova il soggetto o si tratta solo di auto-suggestione? E cosa succede nel cervello quando entriamo nel micro-sonno?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"brz-css-fQU6U brz-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"brz-rich-text brz-rich-text__custom brz-css-urHQl\" data-brz-custom-id=\"kekpzaeodxattokckfvfndfptlxeyfnnxxsb\">\n<div data-brz-translate-text=\"1\">\n<p class=\"brz-mb-lg-10 brz-tp-lg-paragraph brz-bcp-color6 ql-align-justify brz-css-pbuck\" data-generated-css=\"brz-css-wcebk\" data-uniq-id=\"lcaaq\"><span class=\"brz-cp-color6\">Esiste uno studio molto interessante che ci aiuta a capire come il ricorso al micro-sonno abbia probabilmente un fondamento reale nel nostro funzionamento neurofisiologico. Una ricerca ha valutato dal punto di vista encefalografico la qualit\u00e0 del dormire in un soggetto che aveva camminato per 338 miglia in uno stato di deprivazione parziale di sonno.\u00a0Quello che colpisce \u00e8 che -appena viene messo a nanna- il soggetto mostra un veloce ingresso nella fase ad ONDE LENTE del sonno. Il sonno ad onde lente (indicato anche con l&#8217;acronimo SWS che indica in inglese Slow Wave Sleep) \u00e8 un termine utilizzato per indicare il sonno profondo. In questa fase l&#8217;attivit\u00e0 metabolica del cervello \u00e8 ridotta: ed il cervello registra il pi\u00f9 basso consumo di ossigeno e glucosio. James Horne, studioso britannico ed autore di un celebre libro sul sonno, sostiene che il cervello \u2013 differenza dei muscoli volontari \u2013non pu\u00f2 mai rilassarsi o rallentare la propria attivit\u00e0 durante lo stato di veglia. Quindi, finch\u00e8 l\u2019attivit\u00e0 cerebrale non viene rallentata, il cervello non pu\u00f2 procedere ad attivit\u00e0 di riparazione e revisione. Lo scopo della fase SWS sarebbe proprio quello di permettere tali attivit\u00e0. La scoperta sorprendente nello studio sul camminatore in deprivazione parziale di sonno sarebbe allora questa: se lo spazio del sonno viene ridotto e compresso in piccoli intervalli pi\u00f9 o meno frequenti, il corpo si organizza per ottimizzare i tempi. Stabilisce delle priorit\u00e0 ed entra immediatamente nella fase che \u00e8 pi\u00f9 importante per la sopravvivenza; e rimanda invece fasi meno fondamentali nell\u2019immediato, come per esempio quelle legate al consolidamento degli apprendimenti e dei ricordi.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"brz-css-fQU6U brz-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"brz-rich-text brz-rich-text__custom brz-css-urHQl\" data-brz-custom-id=\"upbgqrqnwrrtwmjajtbdlxmmwogyqzvaikpv\">\n<div data-brz-translate-text=\"1\">\n<p class=\"brz-mb-lg-10 brz-tp-lg-paragraph brz-bcp-color6 ql-align-justify brz-css-nGN9g\" data-generated-css=\"brz-css-judns\" data-uniq-id=\"aewjx\"><span class=\"brz-cp-color6\">La strategia dei micro-sonni possiede dunque una validit\u00e0 reale; essa affonda le sue radici nelle capacit\u00e0 auto-organizzative del sistema cerebrale, che \u00e8 in grado \u2013 pur di assicurarsi la sopravvivenza ed un minimo di funzionamento di base- di mutare il proprio modo di dormire, adattandosi a brevi intervalli di sonno. Questi intervalli \u2013nella mia esperienza- diretta o legata all\u2019osservazione dell\u2019esperienza altrui, hanno una durata ottimale se sono compresi tra i 20\u2019 e i 40\u2019.\u00a0Attenzione per\u00f2 a non perdere il senso del limite: si tratta pur sempre di una strategia di emergenza. Purtroppo, a quanto pare, e checch\u00e9 se ne dica, l\u2019uomo non \u00e8 fatto per non dormire.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"brz-css-fQU6U brz-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"brz-rich-text brz-rich-text__custom brz-css-urHQl\" data-brz-custom-id=\"otwbomcwqkfihelsrzrdyqegtgvhharymrcf\">\n<div data-brz-translate-text=\"1\">\n<p class=\"ql-align-justify brz-bcp-color6 brz-tp-lg-paragraph brz-mb-lg-10 brz-css-yrasV\" data-uniq-id=\"wqadi\" data-generated-css=\"brz-css-tppxh\"><span class=\"brz-cp-color6\">A questo proposito vi segnalo uno studio promosso dal Centro di Ricerca sulla Prestazione Umana CERISM e dal Dipartimento di Neuroscienze dell\u2019Universit\u00e0 di Verona che si svolger\u00e0 al Tor450. La ricerca vuole indagare gli effetti della deprivazione da sonno e dello stress sulle capacit\u00e0 cognitive in atleti over 50, per capire se \u00e8 vero che un\u2019atleta pi\u00f9 \u201canziano&#8221; gestisce meglio le difficolt\u00e0 e lo stress.
