When GPS was not yet known, we were already on the wrist

TORX Gold Sponsor

Today, training with a sportwatch is the most natural and normal thing that can happen to us. Distances, speed, analysis and monitoring of your training and of a race, within your mobile phone, today this is no longer surprising.

At the beginning of the millennium, we thought that GPS, commonly used for navigation and orientation, could be applied to know the speed and distance traveled by a person.

Thanks to the high-frequency sampling of our reception chipsets, it was possible to create a unique instrument to provide all the information about our race.

Garmin, Gold Sponsor of Tor des Géants, is a US company that has been developing devices with integrated satellite technology for more than 30 years.

You can imagine the revolution that represented the possibility of knowing one's pace, independently, and analyzing one's performance with a software, a forerunner of Garmin Connect: Garmin Training Center.

Something very far from out todays Garmin Connect.

We are aware that we have revolutionized the way we train but above all, without being presumptuous, that we have been an element that has contributed to making the Italian running and trail running movement what it is today.

“Being a partner of one of the most important races on the ultra scene is a source of pride for us.

The values that TOR DE GEANTS® evokes are the same that we can find in athletes of any level.

We like to think that the spirit that accompanies an ultrarunner in choosing a challenge for the few like TOR and in preparing to become a finisher, is the same that drives thousands of ordinary people every day to put on a pair of shoes and run, even at 8 p.m, after a busy day of work, even in the rain, even in winter.

The same spirit of those who at dawn are already on the road with their bicycle with the weekend commitments that make you run faster.

It is the spirit of sportsmen who find no excuse to stop, whatever the goal; whether they are crossing the beautiful trails at the foot of the Giants of the Aosta Valley or running in a city park, Garmin will be there to support them."
