BOARD

The 16th edition of TORX® with Kailas is ready to begin and promises plenty of exciting updates. From September 12 to 21, the trails of the Alta Via in the Aosta Valley will host thousands of athletes, fans, and volunteers for a unique experience. Many international top runners will be at the start, ready to take on routes that include several new changes.

This year, it will be even easier to follow the event thanks to a completely revamped communications format.

Live streaming is back, enriched by daily talks featuring special guests—athletes, coaches, organizers—either in the studio or connected remotely, combined with timely and continuous race storytelling through live blogging.

All of this, as well as the leaderboards, will be available at https://live.torxtrail.com and on our Facebook and Instagram channels.

The soul of TORX® with Kailas remains its community.

The TORX® with Kailas on the Road will bring the spirit of the race to host towns with celebrations, activities, music, and meet-ups.

Adding to the atmosphere is the ExtraTOR program, a series of side events for the public, companions, and local residents.

Making all of this possible are the VolonTOR: over 3,000 volunteers who, with passion and professionalism, keep every part of the organizational machinery running.

TORX® with Kailas 2025 is not just a race, but an epic journey through landscapes, emotions, and effort, uniting the giants of running with those of solidarity and passion.

The event closes on Sunday at Courmayeur's Bollino Park with the awards ceremony at 11 a.m.

The route changes

For the TOR450 – Tor des Glaciers, the route in the Valgrisenche area will now stop in Planaval instead of Rifugio degli Angeli. The track continues along the usual route up to Lago San Grato, with a detour before Rifugio degli Angeli. For safety reasons in Valnontey, Col de l’Ouille, which was added last year, has been removed. Runners will continue to Rifugio Sella, where they will receive the usual warm welcome. They will then return along the same path for about 2 km to take the detour towards Col de la Rousse. On the other side of the course, Rifugio Prarayer will be skipped and replaced with an enhanced refreshment point at the Place Moulin dam. The final checkpoint for the TOR450 will be Rifugio Bertone.

For TOR330, TOR130, TOR100, and TOR30, it will no longer be possible to sleep at Rifugio Frassati: the rest area at the Bosses aid station will therefore be reinforced.

Also returning among the refreshment points of TORX® with Kailas are Rifugio Bonatti and Rifugio Bertone.

Alpine refuges have limited bed availability and cannot guarantee athletes a place to sleep. The designated places to rest and shower are the Life Bases of Valgrisenche, Cogne, Donnas, Gressoney Saint-Jean, Valtournenche, and Ollomont (for TOR330) and Oyace (for TOR130 and TOR100).

TOR330 – Tor des Géants®:

Franco Collé chasing his fifth victory

Once again, the 2025 starting list of the TOR330 – Tor des Géants® features athletes of the highest level.

The big favorite is, of course, Franco Collé, already a four-time winner of the TOR330 (2014, 2018, 2021, 2023). The runner from Gressoney will face tough opponents such as Simone Corsini, second in 2022 and dominant this season with victories at the GTC55 and the new Monte Rosa Walserwaeg 120.

Other notable contenders include Giulio Ornati, second at the TOR130 – Tot Dret in 2024, Andrea Macchi, third at the TOR330 in 2017 and fourth in 2024, and Gianluca Galeati, second in 2015 and determined to bounce back after last year’s withdrawal.

Among foreign athletes, all eyes will be on the duo that lit up the 2024 race alongside winner François D’Haene: Martin Perrier (third) and Louis Calais (sixth). They will be joined by Florian Grasel (Austria, regular winner of the Grossglockner Ultra-Trail), Fidel Fernández Varela (Spain, third at the 2024 Ehunmilak Ultra-Trail), and Ryota Nakatani (Japan, fifth at TOR130 in 2024).

Other strong names include Richard Victor (second at TOR450 Tor des Glaciers 2019), Peter Kienzl (third at TOR330 in 2018 and TOR450 in 2023), the Chinese athletes Jiaju Zhao and Weiqiang Zhang, Japan’s Keisuke Minami, Nepalese Sangé Sherpa (looking for a crazy treble after UTMB e SwissPeaks), Italians Daniele Nava, Danilo Lantermino, and Roberto Camperi, Americans John Kelly (three-time Barkley Marathons finisher) and William Peterson (holder of several FKT records), Britons Lawrence Eccles and Kim Collison, Romanian Corneliu Buliga (disqualified in 2024 while leading), Finn Max Moberg, Swiss Jonathan Schindler, and Spaniard Jesus Bailo.

TOR330 – Women’s favorites:

Bannwarth, Borzani, and Zimmermann

In the women’s field, the 2025 TOR330 – Tor des Géants® brings together several top international athletes.

The spotlight will be on Claire Bannwarth (third in 2024), who is expected to battle for the win with Lisa Borzani, two-time queen of the TOR330 (2016 and 2017), and Denise Zimmermann, winner in 2015 (in the shortened edition ending at Ollomont).

Other strong contenders include Melissa Paganelli (second in 2021 and fourth in 2023). From overseas, two Americans stand out: Kaytlyn Gerbin (third at UTMB 2022) and Annie Hughes (fourth at Swiss Peaks 360 in 2024).

The line-up also features Sophie Grant (fifth in 2023), Kaitlin Allen (seventh in 2024), Italy’s Valentina Michielli (winner of the 2025 Monviso 100 Miles), Corina Sommer (fresh off victory at Supertrail du Barlatay), Japan’s Junko Tokumoto (second at Swiss Peaks 2024), as well as many other rising names.

TOR450 – Tor des Glaciers:

everyone chasing Roi Sébastien

On the longest distance of the TORX® with Kailas, Sébastien Raichon returns after a year’s break. He has already announced his goal of lowering his own course record set in 2023.

Challenging him will be a strong group of French athletes, led by brothers Jules-Henri (winner in 2021) and Candide Gabioud, along with Luca Papi (two-time winner, in 2019 and 2021 with Gabioud), and Julien Christin-Benoit.

Among the women, all eyes will be on last year’s champion Sarah Hansel, with rivals including podium finishers Marina Plavan and Katja Fink. Also in the mix are 2023 winner Florence Golay-Geymond, Japan’s Kaori Niwa (third at Swiss Peaks 2023), China’s Junyue Zheng, and the French athletes Sandrine Béranger (DNF last year) and Céline Rouquié (20th at TOR330 in 2024).

TOR130 – Tot Dret:

Cogliati faces new challengers

Gionata Cogliati will try to defend his crown at the TOR130 – Tot Dret after last year’s impressive victory.

His main rivals include Belgian Florian Descamps (winner of the 70 km Trail del Monte Soglio in July), Carlo Alberto Cirla (surprise winner of the 2025 GTC100), China’s Hualing Chen (a strong athlete making his first appearance outside his country), Alessio Zambon from Team La Sportiva (top 20 at LUT 2025), Davide Rivero (winner of the Grand Raid du Guillestrois in May), Mirko Marchi (sixth at GTC55 in July), and Marijn Sinkeldam (fourth at GTC100 this year), all boasting an ITRA score above 800. A late entry is Polish runner Roman Ficek, who was a major protagonist in the first half of the TOR330 in 2022.

In the women’s race, the spotlight will be on Sabrina Verjee, second at TOR330 in 2024 and winner in 2022. Originally registered for the TOR330, she switched to the shorter distance due to limited preparation. She will face strong rivals such as Marta Vigano (sixth at CMUR 70 km this year), Britain’s Hannah Rickman (twice on the podium at the legendary Spine Race), Antea Pellegrino (winner of the Morenic Trail 100 in 2024 and third at GTC100), Switzerland’s Francesca Piccoli (fourth at VUT90 in 2025), Romania’s Oana Alina Popa (winner of Monte Catria Extreme Trail and Alpe della Luna Trail earlier this season), Portugal’s Marta Abrantes (winner of the 2025 Oh Meu Deus, part of the TORX® eXperience circuit), and Italians Simona Marchetto, Paola Bottanelli (13th at GTC100 this year), and Elisa Boetto (second at Cervino Matterhorn Ultra Race 50k in 2025), all with ITRA scores above 600.

TOR100 – Cervino–Monte Bianco:

three-way battle for the podium

In 2025, Luca Arrigoni has already run six races, winning three and finishing second in the other three. He will face off against Mattia Reggidori, both podium finishers in 2024, as well as local favorite Henri Grosjaques, two-time winner of the TOR130 – Tot Dret (2021 and 2022).

Other contenders include Alessandro Macellaro (third at GTC55 in July, DNF last year on the 100 km course), Hugues Girard, Michael Dola (fresh winner of the VII Monterosa EST Himalayan Trail – EPIC 58K), Joel Janin (current leader of the Tour Trail VDA), and the ever-present Silvio Pesce.

In the women’s field, Fabiola Conti is the clear favorite. After her record-breaking win at TOR130 last year and a recent triumph at Monte Rosa Walserwaeg 120, the Aosta Valley runner looks determined to claim victory here as well. Challenging her will be China’s Wenli Jiang (23 races in 2025, with 17 wins), American Sarah Keyes (8th at LUT 80 km this year).

Potential outsiders include Sonia Locatelli and Dorian Gricourt.

TOR30 – Passage au Malatrà®

William Boffelli the favorite

Among the favorites of the TOR30 – Passage au Malatrà is ski mountaineer William Boffelli (Team Kailas Fuga, second at Monte Rosa Walserwaeg 43 km), along with strong Lithuanian runner Gediminas Grinius.

Italian contenders to watch include Gianfranco Cucco (winner of the Trail del Monte Soglio 25 km and Ultra Trail dei Castelli Bruciati 27 km), Mattia Barlocco (fifth at La Thuile Trail 25 km), Federico Magagna (already on the podium at GTC30 this year), and Jacopo Gregori (fifth at GTC30 2025). Among the outsiders is young Spaniard Francisco José Anguita Bayo (Team Kailas Fuga).

In the women’s race, local star Elisabetta Negra (third at TOR330 in 2023) will be in the spotlight, together with Switzerland’s Federica Meier (second last year). Also in the mix are Italy’s Sara Lagomarsino (seventh at Monte Rosa Walserwaeg 43 km), Sara Bracco (winner of Trail del Marchesato 37 km and Val Maremola Trail), and Poland’s Kinga Kwiatkowska (winner of Ultra-Trail Snowdonia 25 km in 2025).
