The battery life provided with mountain running smartwatches is an important feature to choose a running computer.

An Ultra Distance race is won with your legs but above all with a lot of perseverance and mental strength.

Your concentration should be on conserving energy, running, avoiding injuries and, of course, also enjoying the ride of a multi-day race.

We therefore wanted to let free our athletes from a couple of thoughts: the first, to end up with an empty battery during the race.

The second is to be able to count on a constant and precise tracking of your own performance.

We have therefore worked and developed solutions for battery life.

The first Fenix model (year 2012) guarantees a battery life with GPS, not exceeding 20 hours. A good duration but not enough.

Component changes and software studies helped us to move on the duration up to 80 hours in 2019, with the launch of Fenix 6.

An incredible battery life if we consider that the GPS system has become increasingly powerful, with a significant drop in energy consumption: in other words, greater precision but at the same time, longer duration.

The turning point for lovers of Ultra races came at the beginning of the last decade. In fact, in 2020 we conceived something unique: an integrated solar recharge inside the display.

The first version of Garmin Power Glass, the solar charging technology developed entirely by Garmin, has made it possible to extend battery life without affecting the aesthetic side of the product.

Mountain running races offer another need: the resistance of the product and in particular the display, the most sensitive part of the device

We have improved the cohabitation of the solar lenses with the very high resistance coefficient of the sapphire glass: it is from these assumptions that the Power Sapphire lens was born.

Nowdays, with about 150 hours guaranteed by the Enduro 2 battery, we have achieved something incredible until a few years ago: we can guarantee you to run day after day, minimizing recharging times.

We have optimized the entire energy management system with new hardware and with the introduction of features such as Power Manager, the useful feature capable of balancing the consumption of certain sensors and apps in order to lighten the energy load, ensuring athletes all the most important information for race or training.

In addition, we have introduced the innovative SatIQ function: based on the view of the sky in the area in which you are running, SatIQ selects the most suitable satellite reception system in order to save energy whenever possible.
